The Stonewall Democrats have released a new poll that shows a growing majority of Alabamians favor increased protections for gay and transgender residents in the state. A clear majority – 60 percent – support passing a law that protests against gay and transgender discrimination.
From October 2011 to march 2013, the percentage of Alabamians supporting protection for LGBT people from employment, housing and public accommodations discrimination on the basis grew from 51 to 60. In Birmingham, that support grew from 69 percent to 77, the survey found.
Natalie Davis and Associates conducted the telephone poll among 853 randomly selected registered voters in Alabama. (attached)
